Clear My Conscience

11/06/2019 Wednesday

Under the weather. A bleeeh feeling permeated my day. However, this is basically how it went… I woke up (hallelujah) but contrary to my norm not quite “I’m ready, I’m ready” and raring to go. Typically, I’m up by 5:30 a.m. and quick to the gym where I run for 20 minutes and do biometrics and/or machine muscle building, for lack of a better term, lol; those weighted things that simulate real work to build muscles. (No, not all of my synapses are yet healed, not even by a long shot.) I skipped class yesterday for feeling under the weather with my sore throat and later nauseous tummy (for what seemed like forever.) Thankfully, Brandy gave me some zofran around 8 p.m. Even still, the nausea creeps in. <We were loading items for a battered women’s shelter and it was all I could do to keep from hurling.> This morning however I felt a second trip to the Immediate Care was in need yet I was definitely on the fence about attending regular daily duties. I left there with antibiotics hitherto the CVS in queue only to find it closed until after my rehab class which would begin at 9 a.m. I paced around held by a local but national radio station which featured me on air. The topic of discussion peaked my interest initially. They were interested in non-Christian songs that have spiritual messages. Having only recently discovered my higher power’s true existence, I have been developing my understanding of this aspect of my life almost constantly for months now and in several instances of radio play I have noticed Christian music masquerading in various forms. Pop, rock, rap etc. The example I chose was Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer” which is a wonderful recovery song. I spoke briefly on my journey on air and went about my way on to class floating on a cloud only God allows. In class, we studied complacency, ie: behaviors that may impede one’s ability to remain abstinent from drugs and alcohol. Afterward, I took a newbie to a first recovery meeting.. post class. I also was given the opportunity to aid in the reunification of a family in similar circumstance. Did and delivered these souls about and home. All the while sacrificing a meeting for the edification of a local community that is a passion project, which I regret, but alas, in recovery as in life, the newcomer is most important. I am trying to honor this. I want desperately to be a mouthpiece for God’s kingdom, but he’s telling me to meditate, slow down, patience all of which are so difficult for me. I dawdle, unfortunately from most other responsibility today via my full dive into service work. Now at work, I reel still with wanting to vomit ehhh. I must take more time to focus, or in this casem reflect on me. Please friend pray for my health, my recovery, and the list of those I pray for as well. Thank you for reading and in the theme of Mr. Rogers hope you come back and visit!

Rhode Island

Today was much like yesterday. I threw on my boots and headed out to the gym, talking on the phone until I arrived. I super enjoy conversations. I called Carlie cause she had a doctor’s appointment after rehab, not to mention I’m not comfortable with her walking such distances. Her phone was off. Went in to begin my run and about 10 minutes in, I got off the treadmill unaware of even why really and lo and behold she had called and said she overslept. Like many newcomers, she’s used to staying up all night and sleeping all day. So it will be a transition for her. Ran across town to pick her up, we went to class, where for once! we studied positive qualities We never talk about the positives, especially not ourselves. Go figure. It was a nice change-of-pace. I took her to her second recovery meeting. She’s coming around a bit. The more I learn about her the more endeared I become, the more I see there is to overcome. I found out today that she struggles with gambling addiction. That’s something I’m just not too familiar with, however I told her the steps of AA and toolbox principles in recovery should apply the same. I encourage her non-stop. She has yet to seem annoyed by me and I like to think she’s opening up a bit. I’ve never met someone quite so guarded and closed off. Her heart appointment went well and almost directly afterward Dallas called about having some food to give away. She agreed to need some, so we went to his place and loaded her up. Went with Dallas to check out his new lakeshore ‘Rhode Island’ estate. It was quite fun. Carlie didn’t know what to think. I’m sure she’s overwhelmed with the immense type personalities. I really do wonder if this is just my first project. I’ve envied others like Brandy and how they take on the edification of newcomers. I guess I’ve just been a little taken aback with the numbers in Women’s Outreach and just how to help without truly being overextended. God bless and good night!

Living Proof

Today was pretty awesome. I’m definitely feeling better. Woke up at 5:30 a.m. and hit the gym. Ran to the Dollar Tree and got Ms. Teresa a card for her birthday. It was purple and said ‘Queen’ on the outside. I don’t write this to take credit for any of my life per se. Each day I repeat that all good is of God. Everything is of his creation and all good is by his hand. So please don’t think I’m gloating. Plus, if I have off days where something feels amiss, I can recall what I did and what worked. I digress (what I do best) and was late for class by a bit. Afterward Kaylee rode with me to pick up Carlie who had walked all the way from Callier Forest. It’s incredible how truly difficult it is to get into a recovery program, let alone be successful in it and the lengths to which such as she would go to get there. Of course, she didn’t make class but I picked her up already in West Rome, which is super impressive. On top of this clear demonstration, she was denied transportation by the van drivers so for a third day I will provide 🙂 Would I not want someone to do the same for me? Mind you, there is a definite archaic part to my brain that says very negative comments toward constant selflessness but overall when I balance well enough all of it I find the concept of the golden rule coming to fruition in my life. We attended Brooklyn and Jamison’s new All Ladies group for Thursdays at 1:30 at Living Proof. There was a real good turn out too. I’m thankful for each soul there today. I lift them all up to you Lord. Only you truly know their hearts, their needs. Fulfill your will in their lives for the furthering of your Kingdom! I felt the holy spirit something fierce during that meeting, especially when Jamison spoke. We even all joined hands and prayed outside Living Proof with all the whizzing cars of Shorter Avenue we may have well as been floating in the clouds with Kaylee’s heartfelt prayer. God you are amazingly awesome, incredibly omnipotent, and forever the winner of your great play. I am honored to be a protagonist for once, honored to love and feel love. I delivered an SUV full of ladies around afterward. I do have one heck of a druggie buggy, thank you Lord. Upon returning Carlie across town she confesses she has a heart condition to which only 1/3 of her heart remains functioning. Not to go too in detail, but she requires serious meds that she has been out of for some time. We arrange a doctor’s appointment for after class tomorrow, thankfully able to schedule so quickly. Again much respect to the most high God. It’s really incredible just how much suffering and seclusion their is not only in addiction, but as we discussed today, in homelessness also. God only knows how much we all truly suffer for our health. This young girl is a beautiful, fragile soul and I lift her up especially to you God. Heal her. Allow me to witness such splendor.

Brittany A. Boggs

I am fully embracing a time of difficult acceptance and immensly positive change during this period of my life. I am a 34 year-old female and mother from a small benevolent town in Northwest Georgia. My blog will detail my journey as openly as possible, illustrating how I am a recovering substance abuse addict and a victim of domestic violence. I plan to write in a way that is entertaining, truthful, and helpful to anyone, particularly men and women of all ages suffering from these same issues or alongside a loved one.

I chose to make a blog and publicize my journey as a way to feel more confident and expressive during this time in my life. I am learning to meditate on more and immerse myself in social settings, therefore lending my mind to afterthoughts for my own full personal satisfaction. I am actively involved in outpatient rehabilitation for drugs and alcohol. I am an active participant in recovery groups pertaining to this cause. I also attend domestic violence classes to overcome this difficult season of my life. I hope to simply feel complete in expression through this avenue and any feedback will as such orchestrate further personal development for me. I am very open and motivated as of late and look forward to blossoming into full spring.
